Hi all

Thought I'd post this new piece I started. Bobby did this sketch one night and as soon as I saw it I knew she was a perfect candidate for fabric. I'm considering doing the background dark muted colors in rough leaf forms until they meet her face. Not sure how she ended up becoming green :D but here she is so far, none the less. Comments and suggestions always welcome.
Thanks for looking.

I'm planning to place her to the far right as below:

Rose says, "You two are a hell of a team!"

True words!!! Such a strong sketch to start and you're turning it into an incredible work. I hope you'll post lots of progress pics as you go. I'm very curious to see how you develop and finish this.

Good morning

Thank you both for the enthusiastic comments. Bobby is going to design the background now so I have to wait and see what he comes up with before I can continue.... :D I will post progress pics though. Thanks again.

It's almost like you guys have captured the essence of her nature: primal. Instinct. Looking forward to the end product. Hope it's not too polite!! Yah primal.

Diane,
do you do any of your own tie-dyed colors for this type project?

Hi there Carly. I do my own hand dyes and had painted fabrics...haven't done much tie dying, but the effects are sometimes similar. I also have a bad habit of buying everything I like! :D

Adrienne: You asked for lots of progress pics and this is about all I could manage after work today. I don't have many of the deep brights in here yet. Sometimes more time is spent trying out fabrics than actually sewing or cutting. I did actually get some pieces cut and the hand made but didn't get a pic yet.

P.S. If you think this is messy, you should see the rest of the room! :D

Hi all

Just thought I'd post a quick update for those that asked. I still have a lot of colors to add and/or change but this is where I'm at currently. Thanks for your interest. Suggestions always welcome :)

It's so interesting to see how you pull the colors together to create the scene and the emotional content of the painting. Love those reds!!

Hi Di!

Well i finally made it over here to see this in progress... wowsies this is cool!

(hi bobby you lurker)

anyway this will be awsome and i also love the red/ yellow patch on the left side. Only thing I notice is the hand appears to be to small to be hers, unless it represents someone else? Those blue eyes are really intense in the dark face too, draws one in!

glad I made it!

This is coming along so nicely. I have noticed, though, that the hair outline (new) has a mans face with a pointed nose. Do you really want that? Also, their needs to be a sheer shadow under her chin, so that it is connected to the rest of the body. Not just pasted on look. Sorry!! This is what I see. I love the colors and am really enjoying the progress. You too are hand in hand!!!!!!

Hi Marylin

LOLOL You are absolutely right about the man's profile. Took me a minute to see it. ROFL That shape isn't actually staying there...I was just 'scribbling' with scissors and fabric. heh heh No, I certainly don't want that. The shadows will be added before I'm finished though. Thanks for noticing that little accident tho :D

I see you've named this pic "Primal." Perfect!! I think the application of fabric would've eliminated the profile reference, but that's just me. It's amazing regardless. Tag team duo.

You're very welcome. It's my pleasure to watch it birthed.

That gold trickling that black amid the deep warms top left leading onto her shoulder and neck is so sensual. I can't seem to find a balance for that pink hand (and is that a profile reflecting in it? -- ooh, deja vu), but, you aren't finished yet. Watching waiting wanting.

Shalom,

Tam :)

Personally I think it's Elvis attempting to manifest, but what do I know?

Hi all

Just wanted to post an update on this as it's basically sewn now. I just have a few areas to work with more 'thread-painting' to make them better balanced with other areas.

Thank you TJ. I'm hoping to do that eventually :)

Thanks for your interest.
