Phillip Greenspan, a photographer who used to run Photo.net (and is still one of it's directors), has given me permission to introduce his 6,000+ picture catalogue to the Pastel Forum.

Now, other contributers use the site, but these are (mostly) all his. Make sure you are still in his area, and if you would like to contribute something, he has a link to an animal sanctuary on his copyright page. Please make sure you read that if you are interested in the model pictures.

And do include a link to his site when painting one of his photos (and your home pages if ya got one), since it can only help his business :)

Here is the correspondence:

Subject: Using your pictures

After looking through your website, I'd like to ask if I could use your pictures as reference for painting.
I'm just starting with art, and reference photos are tough to find. I'm
asking because I belong to a website called WetCanvas.com, and we share
our drawings on the web. Just people supporting eachother learning how
to paint. Is just a 'Photo Courtesy' link enough? Or are you not into
folks doing derivative works based on these pictures?

Note that I am not a representative of WetCanvas, just a really bad
artist LOL ... and if I can use them, do you mind if I tell my peers in
the pastel forum if they can use them?

Sure, that's no problem. Please give credit when possible.

And now that you've read all that, here is the site.

ooohoooooo.......goody! Good one Greg!
I suppose we still need permission if we ever want a painting based on his photos to leave the forum and be exhibited/sold in the real world?

I dunno soap. His copyright page is very generous, very open. He might just ask for credit for the image. You certainly dont want to wind up on his 'list of weasels' there. Looks like he's just asking for people to say "I got this here", and is really big on sharing with the Internet community. Seems like a heckuva nice guy, and his travel stories are remarkable.

So far my favs have to be the Hawaiian Flowers, and these black leopard cubs http://www.photo.net/photo/pcd1641/leopard-black-pair-71.tcl
