Im interested in the good and bad of retouch varnish. Thanks.

Hi Kelly ,
Damar retouch varnish is great - for coating too smooth layers where the new paint is beading up , as a temporary varnish and to juice up flat spots ... one problem i have had is putting it on a painting that wasnt altogether dry to the touch . It then took like two weeks to dry...

Retouch varnish is simply diluted damar picture varnish. It is properly used to unify the surface so that areas which have sunk will display their proper color, enabling you to make the correct color choices in subsequent layers.
