Can anybody recommend an SLR camera for a beginner? I know I should start with something manual, but the guy at the camera shop is trying to sell me on getting one that can be manual or automatic. I just don't know that I want to invest that kind of $$ right now... Thanks!

I've got a Canon EOS RebelG. Also a 35-80 lens and a 75-300 lens. TJay got me this camera for Xmas last year and it does anything and everything. It has 6 automatic modes and 5 manual modes. I can do ANYTHING with this baby! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/cool.gif I like having the auto, because I'm always ready for those 'kodak moments.' But on manual is where the real fun begins. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif

If you want to start with a manual camera, and you'd like to save some $, I'd recommend getting a used one. Try a photography club for good deals. If you go with a combo manual/auto, make sure that it will go FULL manual. Some don't and imo that's pretty important.

Also, I've got some great photography books. Even a whole course in book form and on tape. If you'd like to borrow them or if you want to go take some pictures together, call me! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
