Y'all wanna see something neat?? This week I got an order for 20 of my Canyon Heart sets. Woo hoo!!! I made them all on Friday and part of Saturday (about 6 1/2 hours total) and I tell you what, I'm an encasing WHIZ now..LOL... Still don't ask me about the tongue pink though.. it's in there, but the only way I can get it to show up is to encase it...LOL
I did more than this, but these were out of the kiln and soaking, they still have to be cleaned and etched :D I have some spectrum beads that I'll post tomorrow- have to anneal them yet :)
So what's up your sleeves? :D
Oh, and BTW... I'm not going to be making ANY hearts for at least a couple of weeks!! LOL!!

Nothing up my sleeves but arms!
Can you pleeeeeeeeeeeease post a close up of one of your hearts? They all look so pretty there, but I wanna see DETAIL! LOL!

Hehe.. here you go! These were encased with Moretti clear, because the first one I made like this with Lauscha cracked because of incompatibility with something in the mix. So I used Moretti to encase it and then etched it to make it look cleaner... these actually turned out decent, not much scum on them at all, I have some that are crystal clear (but I still wouldn't use it on a black bead..lol!!)
Amy - They look great, thanks for the close up.
Here is my submission for today. I have been working on this great idea I had for a taxi cab series of beads. This is my first trial, but I'm not so pleased. I'm still working on it. There is supposed to be a red, yellow and green bead (transparent over white), but I haven't made them yet. Also a barrel bead with dots of red, yellow and green for a stop light, but that bead turned out supper crappy. So ya'll can just picture those in your mind.
The middle bead is the cab with the black and white checkers, the beads next to it the tires of the cab and the yellows with black line represent the round about way the cab takes you from point A to point B (not the line doesn't meet on the bead, to show that the cab went the really long way around to get you to your close destination). (Ok, it looses something when I explain it all, :P)

Lara, what a cute idea! I'd love to see this set when it's finished :D

Gorgeous hearts Amy!! You've been busy! I know what you mean about not wanting to make heart beads for a while now. I've been making some breast cancer beads for an order I have. She wanted 36 in all. Sheeeeew. I'm tired of pink now. lol
Here's also a pic. of a bracelet and earrings I did for a custom order. I still have to put together the necklace.

Lara....my husband saw your beads from across the room and said "hey, taxi cab beads!" We really like them.
Amy... Love the hearts. Great job!
05-25-2003, 12:54 PM
I love all of the hearts and the nice bright yellow bracelet and set.
05-25-2003, 01:01 PM
I love it Amy! No wonder you had a big order for them!
Lara - love the concept, and the beads! Especially the wiggly line to take you from A to B!
meh2 - pretty bracelet!! Very sunshiney!
05-25-2003, 01:05 PM
Wow AAmy what a marvelous stash of hearts! Congrats on the order!!
Lara looking good can't wait to see your taxi set finished!
Mary that set is so bright & cheery I'm sure the person will love it!

Hello everyone, looking good. Beth, that little guy is cool, I need to try and make some murrine, at least some sig cane. ;-)
Here is something new I've been working on, I call it Blooming Mushroom. ;-)
And from the top.

Bead break from the neglected yard work. Neglected yard work? Primarily due to beads.
AmyK - Love your hearts. Never would I have ever tried the color combo that you used, it is brilliant! I need to be inspired by you and be bolder when it comes to color choices...In fact was looking at the Oriental Exhibit at the Science Center in Cleveland and realized to my amazement that ALL colors go together, don't they? And I am super impressed with the encasing - especially considering you used Moretti.
Great job, well done and now, what's the next project?
Lara - My dream car has always been a 1950's Checker Taxi cab and I sure like your theme. Your tire tread bead is really off and running! I am really attracted to your concept of theme beads. Another talented application of a inspiration!
Meh2purple - That is a very sunny bracelet that you have created - If your customer is not pleased with happiness captured in a wearable art form, she is wacky... And is there any chance at all that you might show the multiple pinks? I would like to know the story behind that order if you have time and are willing. And if that's not enough in the question dept, I have one more. Any advice on doing custom orders?
AND Beth-O - You. How do you consistantly crank out these fabulous murrini's??? I love the dancing posture and he really pops right out off the background choice. Are you going to teach a class soon or do I need to move to Florida???
Inquisitive today, aren't I.........
Here's yet ANOTHER vessel for you to peruse. (I tried to make just a normal round bead last night and discovered to my horror, that I am horribly out of practice.) Weirdo color combo that I did like and a wonker shaped, door knob sized Booger Bottle that I don't know about yet. I am thinking it needs to take an acid bath????
(Told you it was a little on the BIG side.............)

Here is another new one. I've been trying to incorporate my off mandrel flowers to on madrel flowers.
And from the side.
Thanks for the compliments on my beads. Glad that Linda's husband could tell what they were without reading the description.
Meh2 - wonderful sunshiny bracelet.
Beth - great intergalatic murine
Mike - I LOVE THOSE BEADS. Great floral patterns. I really want to lear how to make those types of floers.
Booger - I've said it before, I'll say it again. I really love your vessles.

Thanks, everyone! Personally, I don't like this set- I'm not much for these colors together- it was an experiment... I was surprised someone bought the original, much less the big order! lol But I'm glad I made them, just wish I liked em more :D But Sheryll, you're right! All colors do go together- someone's bound to like whatever you make- that vessel is purty! An acid bath- I agree- it would make it look standout great!
Mary, I like that bracelet- you do a great job stringing your wonderful beads too! Anything you can't do?? :) I'd like to see the pinks, too :)
Beth, that murrine is phenomenal! I'm not surprised at all, you come up with the NEATEST stuff! :D
Mike, that design is really great- I love it! The on mandrel floral is superdelicious- HOW do you do this stuff???
05-25-2003, 03:24 PM
WOW Mike... any tips?! I absolutely love those florals...
05-25-2003, 03:27 PM

I am being quick so I can get back to it and hopefully fit in a walk too...........just wanted to share some of the sets I am making for my open house
I love how this earthtone set turned out....and a close up of the focal.........
A bit of ocean colors with some Bullseye!

One more..............the slider bead that I will put on some black leather cord as one of the door prizes!!
Its a starry starry night............I couldn't get that song out of my head while I was making this!! Ok...........tons more beads....will show some each day.......I have NEVER been more productive at this before!!
I am always amased by the daily thread awesome work everyone.

Booger... thanks so much! Here is a pic. of my breast cancer beads. I used that expensive Moretti pale pink for the base of the bead. Then I encased some white with rubino oro and pulled the stringer that was used for the ribbon. Pretty simple beads. The gal I sold them too makes bracelets that she sells at a hospital.
As far as advice on custom orders. I'm not sure what to say. Just that the customer will tell me exactly what they want... either it's just beads they want or jewelry. I sell to mostly friends and friends of their friends and so on. Once they place a custom order I usually give them a time frame when they can receive it. I really love the custom orders except when I feel overwhelmed by them. I try not to get too bogged down.
Ohhh... I love that vessel!! So gorgeous and lot's detail!!

People would *snap snap snap* those up on eBay! Simple, yes, but a GREAT bead :)
05-25-2003, 08:43 PM
Wow, some gorgeous beads today!!
Here's my latest favorite...love that terracotta color (powder pink) thanks to !ngrid's wonderful directions on how to get it to blush! There's turquoise and kim blue in there too...
And here's one of the pendants I fused!
05-25-2003, 08:49 PM
Wow! Really nice work everyone! It seems that each week, the beads get better and better! Here are a few that came out of my kiln yesterday. The bicones are large: 3 1/2 inches, 3 3/4 inches and 4 1/4 inches, respectively. They were fun! The set is a pretty simple one, but lately I have been really liking red!
05-25-2003, 10:18 PM
Wow Kimberly...I'm in love with your beads!! They are incredible! The 3rd one is my favorite...I'm guessing someone already bought that one?
Thanks for showing us,
05-25-2003, 10:24 PM
No, no one bought it. I am keeping it as it has a little dent in the glass from my torch marver. These beads are so long that they are a little hard to marver and I get a little dent where the bead extends beyond the marver pad (I don't use a hand marver). I usually remember to heat the bead enough to eliminate that dent, but I was likeing this one so much that I got in a hurry to get it in the kiln, and missed the dent. Oh well, it's always the best one!

Great beads everyone!
I'm living vicariously through this thread since I've been on the road since last Wednesday when DH andIleft FL for the drive with my parents' car back to MA. We're on Long Island right now visiting friends and will arrive in MA on Tuesday. Grrrrrr, do I miss my torch! I've been making beads in my sleep since we left and it isn't fun at all!
Thanks for the inspiration!
