My first abstract oil, a tiny 9x12 and it won 2nd place in the oil category at a local show. Weee!

The juror said it might have won 1st if it were larger. I have stuff 48x60 but this little study needed it's "say" too :D lol

All comments welcome of course.

The title is "Terrestrial Swim" whatever that means.

"Ahhemm"... sorry, just clearing my scratchy throat. lol

I'm trying to go in two parallel modes but the non-rep way is more fun to do as a process!

(Love those new trees of yours btw)

Good going, Noble!!!

Great News! It is wonderful to hear of some ones success. I remember not too long ago you were beginning to voice some serious doubt about the validity of your path.
Glad you answered those doubts and stayed the course and happy that you were able to receive a little confirmation from an outside source. Sometimes hearing other voices say what you already believe to be true can help you conserve your energy & apply that where needed. Don't doubt your ability.

Congratulations on your win:clap: Love the color and harmony that you have acheived.

Beautiful! Congrats!!!

Why that's an interesting piece :D

Those forms are very intriguing.. appearing and disappearing.. melting and solid.. although I see a lot of different things here, there's one thought that keeps returning: musical instrument.

I like, and good going in the comp :)

Congrats on the prize noble. I understand the pull between representational and abstract.

This to me is a point in time...a wave in suspension, sprung up from the air itself, gathering its forces to crash down on some as of yet unseen shore. The brief halting point between creation and destruction.

actually, i can see a sort of fluid movement, armonic towards right.

Hi Noble. Congratulations on your win! I think this is absolutely lovely and I can see why it won. I'm not sure what your title means either but it makes me think of music. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Awesome painting Noble.

Congrats on the 1st, oops, 2nd place win :D

Maddening that they dropped you to 2nd because of an arbitrary consideration, when your painting was the best. Isn't the 1st prize supposed to be for the best, rather than the biggest? Stupid, in my opinion.

I wonder what they thought they were thinking

Thanks a bunch to you and all those leaving comments!

Adrienne, actually scale was just another consideration in the judges mind thats all. I have no problem with the result as it is.
