I like it when you go figurative/abstract. I'd love to see something like the 3rd one about 5 or 6 feet tall. Just thinkin out loud here EL.:)

Thanks for looking everyone.

Gar, I'd also like to do some of these larger.. but it's not as simple as simply using big brushes etc.. I'd have to use different materials etc.. and the loose flowing lines would be hard to recreate at 3-4 feet. I may try some at some point, but not until I have more space and canvas and time and money.

I like these especially the middle and bottom one. So much movement with a nice line

Okay.. so what is gouche exactly? do you mix it and it is applied just like oils and acrylics?? i'm eager to know!

Hi El. I really like them. I'd love to see the first and third one in oils when you get your studio back.

gouache is a water based paint.. more similar to tempra than oil, acrylic or watercolor.. It is not transluscent like water color.. yet not plasticy like acrylic.. dries much quicker than oils and has a matte finish rather than the rich luminouse finish of oils.

It comes in tubes to be diluted in water, or premixed in jars. I like it cause dryes within minutes or hours and it feels richer than WC or acrylic. I find they are a bit more expensive than WC or Acrylic.. about comprable to oils.. They work best on paper or board.. never tried it on canvas.. probably a bad idea since I dont think they breathe like oils or have give like acrylic.

I'm sure you can find better info than that.. but I started them with limited technical knowledge. just jumped in and within 3-4 paintings got a general feel for them.
