View Full Version : Portrait of my Kitty

I was practicing how to draw cat's eyes after studying a lesson in the Colored Pencil Challenge Forum and decided to draw my kitty, Cali. I know the fur needs work but I was mainly concentrating on the eyes. What do you think of them?

And what surface are you drawing on. It looks so smooth and glassy. How are you able to get such a moist eye with colored pencil?

I am using Stonehenge paper by Rising. The technique for making the eyes look so deep and wet is to layer colors, light to dark, and use reflections of the area around the person or animal. I used to just put a white spot or two, but this is more complicated. If you go to www.colorpencilchallenge.com, you can actually take free lessons on how to do this. Thanks for your comment. Yep. Great job. It's funny how we think we see a white blob, until we force ourselves to see what's really there!
