View Full Version : Corn & Tomatoes, First Digital Paintingg
This is my first digital painting. Thanks to the RIL contributor. I used brushes and paints in CorelPainter 12 and Intuos5 pen and tablet. It is a bit blurry. Comments are appreciated. Thanks.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/08-Apr-2012/114108-still_life_clone_adj_for_jpeg.jpg
There was a problem loading today. I find my oil painting somewhat chalky and wondered if there was a way to correct this problem. I limited use of white when I was painting with acrylics or oil. Thanks.

Hi arl, Wlcome to PA . I think if you cleaned up your edges and gave more definition to the veggies that would help :)

It's a good start. Welcome to Digital. Also maybe a little bit more color for depth on the tomatoes?
Thank you for your advice.

I agree, it is a very good start. One thing I notice, is that the background red pops more than the tomatoes. I would make the tomatoes brighter red, and the background red a more like the tomatoes are now. That would bring them out into the foreground and make them pop.

It is very charming and I think it is quite good considering this is your first digital painting, I think there are a lot of great suggestions in the comments above especially the ones dealing with the edges, although I think you could have achieved what you where after with just some tonal differences as most of the colors seem to be the same tones or very close to one another. Using a larger tonal range could help define the spaces and give more definition to your objects even without sharpening the edges and will help the entire piece not feel so flat.
