View Full Version : Sparrow Hawk scratch

Hi gang,

Here is a quickie scratch I did the other day. Believe it or not I only spent less than 10 hours with this which is a HUGE record breaker for me!! LOL It is 5x7.

The gallery went well last weekend and it looks like it will be a great place. I have a permanent spot there if I wish to keep my work with them. I am just tickled pink!

Been quite busy getting ready for a show June 6, 7 & 8th. Framing and matting...matting and framing...I dream I am being chased by a logan mat cutter!!!

Hope everyone is doing well!!!!!!

Hi Bob,

Beautiful hawk, but then you always give us your best!! Love his eye and his feathers look so soft.

Congrats on the gallery. Color me green with envy! Good luck with your show.

Crias....yes 10 hours...i was about floored when I realized that it was done enough for my liking. I tried something totally different this time. I used the fiberglass brush and hacked in the feathers with a fever, then went over them with the pin. I was amazed at how it turned out and will be using it again for sure.
Thanks for the comments!!

This was exceptionally fast for me. Most of my pieces take anywhere from 100 hours to 400 hours to complete. Thanks for the comments!!

Thanks everyone. Wish I had the time to comment to each of you but right now I am really pressed for time. I truly believe that with every post you all make it raises the bar for everyone else. You guys definetly keep me motivated!!!!!! hehehehe

wow:eek: i can't even fathom spending 400 hours staring at the same piece. but your time and persistence certainly show in your work! i'm trying to slow down a bit and focus on the details, but it's hard when i have to sneak in art between classes and studying!

Very nice portrait of an American Kestrel (no relation of the true Sparrowhawk-- which is an accipiter, not a falcon).

Just beautiful, as usual. I love it!
