Hebe in bloom.
12"x16" 140lb. Cold press, M. Graham Paint.
Critiques and/or comments welcome...
I like the composition and focus on the left bloom.
I feel that you need more darks in the background and some shading on the leaves to make it pop,

I forgot that you were a New Zealander.
I feel kinda embarrased for mashing up your native flower!
Good of you to give the kind remarks inspite of that...
I realize that the blooms are supposed to be violet, I just threw in the red...
This is a 1/4 size study for a larger painting.
Thank you for your constructive criticism.
Hopfully I will have my goals for this painting straight by the time I start it.
Input from the rest of you folks will be beneficial.

I like your left bloom, also. IMO, another bloom and a lot more variation and darks in your leaves would make a much more pleasing painting.
Rod's suggestions sound good. Great work on the branches too!

Very nice, Robert.
I wish you could paint all my floral backgrounds for me!
