Had one of those moments that RKS was talking about this evening...Infact it has been a really inspiring week for me this week! :D
I was going to do this as a WIP but I got caught "In the groove" and was loving it...Oh, didn't Madonna make a hit called "Get into the groove"?....Spooky huh! LOL!
It isn't finished yet!....Have I got her?

It's lovely, Nitsa. Great highlights on the lips. Not sure that the highlight in the right eye (left as viewed) is correct. I can't quite put my finger on what 's wrong but it seems a litle *flat* compared to the other one. It's going to be a really beautiful picture.

It's inMaterial, Girl, that you didn't do this as a wip... It's going to be great!!!
05-15-2003, 07:31 PM
So far so good!
05-15-2003, 07:32 PM
Velda.....TY so much, I was just sitting here thinking that something was bugging me and you have put your finger on it for me...Cheers! I am pleased with how the lips are coming along too.....TY!
Char.....LOL!..Very clever!....TY, I just hope I am still in this mode tomorrow 'cos it's late here now (almost 1AM) and I must get to my bed! :(
Don't you just hate it when "real" life takes over..I just want to PAINT!

Oooh, thanx Alan....Didn't see you there! ;)
Wow! Have you ever captered her likeness!!!
This painting is beautiful.

Great likeness. Waiting for the finish.

Fun2cook.....Ooooh, TY!....I hope it remains "Beautiful" in the morning! LOL!
JoAnn.......TY!...So chuffed you see the likeness.
Think I managed to save the eye highlight, also softned that line on her nose on the RHS as you view it...It was annoying me somewhat.
Right...I have to go to bed now...I mean it! :(

When I saw the mouth, I just knew who she was!! Great job!   that gap between the teeth really did it!
My only small nit so far (realizing you're going to be working on it some more), is the right eye (her left eye). As I see the other eye, I noticed that it has kind of a "lazyness" to it that I don't see in the other one. The dreamy-eyed look is what would give this Madonna her signature look!
Great job!! I can't wait to see it finished!! ;)
05-16-2003, 03:21 AM
Thanx Lyn....Yep, that gap is a blessing! LOL!
Funny you should mention her right eye, I woke this morning with "new eyes" and realised I made need to pluck her right eyebrow a tad, I think that may be what's giving it that heavy look.
Also, the eyelashes will deffo and a character trademark I'm sure.
Thanx for looking in, commenting!
05-16-2003, 04:52 AM
beautiful! i like a lot her eyes.
05-16-2003, 05:07 AM
I forgot to mention the size and paints etc...
I'm working with Cotman 10x7 and have used W&N Cad yellow, perm rose, Windsor violet, Yellow ochre, Aliz Crimson and FUB.
I've put her eyelashes in now and managed to trim her right eyebrow a tad, starting applying colours to the hair area around her face and adding depth to the structure of her chin.
Also managed to soften that nose line!
I'm working pretty diluted her to achieve a soft look, the white of the paper shows up more here, in reality the blend is softer.

looking very good---------Alan

Believe you really need to contact Madonna personally. She would love this! You have captured her likeness perfectly! Can't wait to see finished painting. .. Are you done yet?... sorry... anxious.
05-16-2003, 07:51 AM
I was disturbed by a phonecall and my company will be here shortly, so it doesn't look like I'll finish by this afternoon as I hoped! :(..I'm really enjoying this.
I have managed to make a start on her hair building up with layers of colour as I go, starting with Yellow ochre and moving through to siennas and ambers.

Sorry Imahappy...Must have crossposted!....D'ya think she'd buy it? LOL!
TY for your comments!
05-16-2003, 07:58 AM
Definitely think she'd buy it or she's not as smart as I think she is.

Added a little more, am I done??? (I May work the hair a little more later!)
Any suggestions for that background section?
It's raining here right now so it's impossible to get a decent pic....sorry!
05-16-2003, 11:40 AM
my suggestion for background would be to fill it in with more hair. take it or leave it. looks great so far.
05-16-2003, 12:03 PM
I don't know what you mean about the combo not being fair, I've got both. (heehee) I like the suggestion by Bethany of more hair. Also would like to see you add more darks to hair.
05-16-2003, 12:08 PM
