i like it. it would seem more "cityish" though if there were more neutral colors and some warmer tones too, but i understand this was a limited pallet study.

Well I really like this loose sketchy style......my question is did you have a photo ref to work from or what......and one little nit that I wouldn't be able to tell how to fix, or whats wrong with it.....is the sky bothers me for some reason.......

But I still amire your work and the ability to paint so loose........

OOoooo! Nice!

OMG!!!!! I LOVE THIS!!!!!!!
It just jumped outta the screen at me and made my pupils double in size, it's so yummy!!!!!!!
Gilberte I love your style, I remember your yellow ochre flowers, infact I have them saved on my computer and often use them as my desktop background. You work really appeals to me when you paint with this loose style, you do it so well. The colours in this piece are just gorgeous too....I think using colours such as this, away from the norm, is what makes it so special and appealing!
I like too the way you have captured the light, even in a piece this loose and busy........

.....Did I mention I like it? LOL!

Absolutely gorgeous, I could only think of some warm touches to add (orangy..).

Waaaaayyyy cool. I really really like this

Gilberte, this is wonderful! Your style and the colors are electric! It has such immediacy--very impressionistic. You seem to paint your feelings about the place when you use your own colors, etc. as opposed to painting true to life.:)

I like the randomness of the blocky bits on the buildings.

I like the palette but would prefer to see some yellowy warmth added.

Happy Belated Birthday!!

Over all.......like very much........
Liked the composition...
Liked the color combo........
Kinda looking for a stronger focal area
Missing some people in the sketch....
Like the arches......perhaps strengthen them for added repetition
Like loose feel.......
Wanna go there..................

I like it.. it's very effective.. would have liked to see one or two silhouettes of people walking up the hill.

Hi Gilberte
I like it to -where is it ? Some where in Italy or is it fantasie .I would like to see some more details in the foreground and where the mainlight comes from too !!

05-15-2003, 03:03 PM
WOW!!! I love the looseness and washiness look of this..... very nice Gilberte!!

I like!!!!!!!!

Purple does things for me ;)

Wonderful sketch, perspective looks right.

You could treat this as underpainting a la Em and add your warms now :D

Yes, add people, cities need people!

Ok, I'm done!

A nice sense of depth and loose feel to it, beautiful.

Gilberte, I love the way your brush creates such loose beauty... This is no exception... I would hate to see anything added to it... It has a "moment in time" feeling about it...

good morning, afternoon, evening .......
Thanks again for commenting. I like to read all your views and opinions and I appreciate it enormously. "Away from the norm" I seem to do it automatically  ... but I can really appreciate the work of other watercolorist who paint the "fine way". That's what makes the forum so exciting ... so different yet so interesting !
Read you later everyone ........!:)

It's lovely. Has such a wet, watery feel to it. I would not add any other colors--perhaps bring a touch of the sky blue into the street
--or just leave it.

I feel like I've seen that street, though I could not say where it was..lol

I love it too. I'm trying to change my style from rigid/controlled to light/loose, so I really study works like this one. I love the colors too. This is wonderful. Thanks for showing it to us.
