View Full Version : Olga(portrait) and the Eiger North face

I was away in Ireland last week for my nephew's wedding and had a great time so I've missed a lot of the last postings My frien with whom we were staying has access to the internet si I did get to see some of them ,I did a couple of sketches while I was there, first is one of Olga , I know I haven't joined the portrait project but I've made a start
The second is taken from a photo my friend took while on a mountaineering expedition trying to climb the Eiger North Face, he's got more guts than me, unfortunately the climb failed they were driven off the mountain by adverse weather, I was quite jealous when he was relating the story
I think I might try this as a full scale painting

Alan, you are so talented--both of these are wonderful!
I think the Eiger would make a great full-size painting.:)

Alan, looking forward to seeing how you develop both sketches.

Thanks Ruth I did some more this morning ,the sketch book is A3 size that's around 12"x 17" so it's fairly big already If I do a painting of this I don't think I'll go much bigger, I've put a little paint on it but it's mostly watercolour pencils--------Alan
Wow, Alan--what fun!
Got to Wc and the first thing I see is...myself.
Good job... and I don't mind at all you made my face a bit slimmer...lol
Looking good. Eager for more.

Alan, great work. I'd love to see the Eiger as a WIP (?). Maybe you can watch "The Eiger Sanction" as inspiration (1975 Clint Eastwood film--I'm an Eastwood fan).
