Ohhhhhh Ruth!!! this is good!!!! and love the colours!!!! How come you, a flower painter, can also do such a good job on landscape????? Not fair!!!!!

Very moody and evocative....the colors work so well together.

I like the idea alot! I think you should try it even looser! let it all wash crazily together! What the heck!

Nothing to lose eh?

Very good Ruth, some times you just got to let go,

just a suggestion-you may want to run a little swipe of water in that streaming down cloud. That way it would look like its misty as well.

just a suggestion. Nice work!

WOW!! Love the rain!! That looks like some of the skys we have in Belgium, with pelting rain on one side and blazing sunshine on the other one. Yesterday I was in a hailstorm and I could see blue sky a few miles away!!

Wonderful painting.

Ruth this is excellent, I can think of no higher compliment than to say JMW Turner, this is what I see when I look at this one-----------well done----------Alan

Norsky thank you, that is actually how I painted the rainy bit, just took a damp flat brush and dragged it down from the clouds :)

Kate, we have similar weather! lol Usually get sun, rain, wind, hail and probably a rainbow all in one day! Thank you :)

Alan, we've gone full circle! lol You said one of the first paintings I posted here looked like an early Turner, I still consider that a huge compliment. For you to say this looks like a Turner is an even bigger compliment, I love his Fighting Temeraire! :o

It's true Ruth I like the dramatic colours it does remind me of a Turner, maybe that's the route you should follow, seems to me you've got an eye for the drama of nature------------Alan

This is a fabulous seascape. Very dramatic with the sunset colors clashing against the dark storm clouds and rain pouring down on the water.

Really super painting.

very nice work Ruth.
I like a lot your colours and loose tech.
Rain effect is amazing.
only thing Im not comfortable with is composition cause triangle shapes are very similar in size (mountain, sunset, blue cloud and storm one. (just a comment)

Thank you, Sylvia :D These postcards are great for experiments, I would never have tried this before.

Alex, I never thought of that but you could be right! I'll watch out for that problem in future, thank you :)

Rain was surprisingly easy, just paint clouds, then take just damp flat brush and drag paint down and slightly across, as the brush is almost dry you get a nice effect.
