I'm not 100% sure about this one.

I finished it off last night and went to bed happy, then because I was still awake and thinking about it I got up at 2am and painted the moon in. (Wearing my brand new PJ's...)

originally it was just the woman wrapped in the blanket and the night, my working titled was 'embraced' however the reason why I couldn't sleep was because I thought maybe she needed to be looking AT something, hence me getting up to add the moon, I'm not totally convinced it is 'right' yet though.

Again the scan hasn't picked up the depth of the purples, blues and greens in the 'night' section of the painting.

I like this!
I think the moon got too nicely tucked into the upper corner. IMO you have great opportunity to create tension by moving the moon.

Perhaps like this:
<IMG SRC="http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/02-May-2001/andthemoonlistens-hl1.jpg" border=0>

This way there is something unnerving about the moon - and maybe you do not want that effect. In the new position I think the shape of the moon communicates better with the round shapes on the figure (shoulder blade, buttocks, etc.)

deevaa, another wonderful creation. If it were mine (heh heh) I'd want the moon in the far corner as you have it. Good critique though. I've got a thing for hair (mine's that long) and I love the way you've done hers. Great!!!!!!

Thanks Henrik! Hmmm.... I'm not sure I like the moon down that low, I understand what you are saying though....

Is anyone else ever forced out of bed because of a painting? Or am I odd?

The Only Thing That Bothers Me .(its very miner) Is The Green On The Moon Makes It Look More Like The Earth Than The Moon To Me Becausae Every Piture Ive Seen Of The Earth The Land Has Been This Color. And I Do Agree I Think The Moon Should Be Farther In .But All In All I LOVE IT. SLEEP WELL NOW !!! LOL http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

OMG -- it has been ages since this painting has been on the front page... who has been trawling through the old stuff??

The moon isn't actually so green in the painting, the scan just picked it up funny. This one sold and now lives in Southern California... isn't it amazing the power of the web.

In any event, I’m curious...do you do (whoops)...use (that’s not much better)...paint (okay) the male figure? http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

I have used the male figure for painting.... no hang on, I've used a brush for painting a male figure....(OMG - did *I* say that!?)...

I am always accused of making my men folk abit girly though... I'm too into curves....

ummm here are a couple of my older (male) works... un-named male (http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/~deevaa/art/untitled-male.jpg) and plughole (http://homepages.paradise.net.nz/~deevaa/art/plughole.jpg)

actually now that I think about it, the men I've done are pretty bad........ http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/eek.gif

Deevaa dear, you do provide some irresistible straight lines. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif As for them curved ones, I really do like "plughole " *BUT* that Froidian title...YIKES!
Fyi, if you didn't tell me these paintings contain "Y" chromosomes, I would have thought them both "XX" http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

*sigh* I paint girly men.... I need to put abit of ROUGH *growl* in my men.

Or I could stick to naked curvy chicks.... which is my favoured option! (lazy? who me?)
