MY COMMENTS:
THis is my second try at this one.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
What do you think? Did I screw it up. Not sure about the background color. Were the jeans better darker.

THe order is current first, then first try, then photo ref.

Thanks for any input

The second version does it for me, Jeanette.
Several years ago,...I found myself in a cafe in Amsterdam admiring a large painting very similar to this.....Cheers..

Way to go...first one, reds & blues are a bit to primary for me. Btw, have you heard the Norah Jones' song "I've got to see you again?" If not, listen to it...you've painted it.

I'll have to be different..I like the first one more. The red background gives the entire work more energy.

I like the first try more (sorry). It is more contrast. IMHO, If you want to express desire, maybe you should work more on the background.

I like the second (first try) better
for contrast in colors
creates more depth
and interest

would like to see
a bit more light tones
and dark tones
in the flesh
it has the rosyness already
to inspire the passionate nature
of this work

the reference photo
shows more of a subtle/ thought provoking
smile
which should be included

I like your first try..second one.. better too, the lighter background makes it look more realistic I think

Great work!
