View Full Version : No Competition

Hi all!
Been a while since I posted here. I have been hanging out in the photography forum.

This post is NOT meant to be a competition between Rod and I on the painting of the rusty truck.

I know better than to try that with the master of watercolor!

This is just to show you a different version of the same photo. I took the photo on an outing near a junk yard.

It is posted in the reference library if you want to have a go at it.

Wow, you did a wonderful job. Kinda thinkin' there might be a little competition heating up here ... lol.

Thanks funtocook for the comment!

I forgot to mention it is on Waterford (the best) paper. 140# cold press, image size is 5 x 7 on 8 x 10 paper.

Rich, I really like the loose approach you took with your version. I'm in agreement that it's not really competitive so much as different perspectives of the same subject...

Um... hmmm... wish the junkyards around here looked that good! :D

Great Painting Rich,
I like your close perspective, makes for a strong composition, lovely loose style,

Excellent portrayal of rusty truck deep in the snow. I love the looseness and the cold (brrrr) winter sky.

Thank you for the nice comments, CharM, artmom, Rod, Gail, Jim, Alan, and JoAnn.
So many new names on here, have I been gone that long?

I will try to comment and post a little more often. I got caught up in the photo scene for a while. I will have to make time for both! :D

Thanks again!
