View Full Version : "Anxiety" - oil on canvas. (note* images were borrowed..used for practice)

Oil on canvas Image size: 18"X36"

This is an older painting...I was trying to create a painting that delt with tension..anxiety. I was also experimenting with color. It is a composite painting..all images were borrowed from other sources..changed to a degree..and incorporated into this painting. (was never intended for sale..only a practice canvas).

I'll post a couple detail images directly below the full-image.

Its not dated..but I think it was done about 14-15 years ago. Was fun to paint. More of an illustration.

I find taht the bottom detail has the most satisfying shapes and colors.

Oh, excellent, I really like this one. That female face in the detail is just beautifully done. Plenty of mystery too.

This reminds me of the Halloween one! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif Have you ever thought of doing a comic book & selling it to D.C. or somesuch?

Merely a student of life!:)

'The artist is no more than a receptacle for sensations, a brain, a recording apparatus. But if it interferes, if it dares, feeble apparatus that it is, to deliberately intervene in what it should be translating, its own pettiness gets into the picture. The work becomes inferior.... Thanks everyone!

Jerry..I love color...you can even DRAW with color.

ZOTMA.. Ah yes...."Michael's Muses"..they're all wandering around up there somewhere!

Bill..thank you!!

Fay..I found that reference photo (second image..with that mouth)..a little intense to say the least.

TeAnne- (Does look a bit like Albert! lol)

Jeanine.."Eros Master"..hummmm, not a bad title!! I like it! ("even then"...guess what.....it goes waaaaaay back) I was copying Alberto Vargas drawings in my VERY early teens..I found some of them btw...may have to post those!! they were done with colored pencil.

David...comics=deadlines..ugh!! Give me freedom or give me death!!!!!! lol
btw: I have found comics VERY inspirational, and have discovered some wonderful comic artists over the years. Kent Williams...excellent artist..did comics and covers for a while. (See if you can find his work..VERY strong!) thanks for your note David.

David..the new work is up in my gallery, along with a rather embarrassing type-O!! (I've just emailed Ruth to correct this!!) lol. A new sketch "Lovers"..and the full-version of "Couple #--"

Note**..this work is not for everyone. Just a caution for anyone heading that way.

Danny..thank you!! Margarete (the model for that pastel) is very beautiful..she posed for many photographs for me, and she was great fun to work with. I think I mentioned this before, but she did manage to get quite sun-burned in all the "wrong" places that day. It was over 100 degrees. Indian Cove is a beautiful area of "big rocks"...very near Joshua Tree, California. I kept spraying (misting) her with water that day..(water, heat..beautiful body)..well, what can I say.........except..it was fun.. and lol, creative. Drawings and paintings still result from working together with Margarete that day.

((((((((((((Sandie..and Scott))))))))))<--------great BIG hugs. Miss you both bunches.

COME ON UP!!!!!! bring your paint gear too!
Alexa, Julian, Bev, and Aida are doing fine! Aida started school last night!! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif
