Lloyd and Gemma 16" x 12"
Struggled a bit with this one, though I'm quite pleased with it - a couple of little things i need to do still before it's completely finished.
It's the first portrait since the 'Kai' portrait that i posted earlier on these boards and need to do more even though they stress me out! I'm going to a few more portraits now of nieces and nephews and leave the landscapes for a while.

This is wonderful, I like the colour in the girls hair, my daughter has that colour hair and it`s quite a difficult colour to match.
What colours did you use for it?
Also did you use salt for the texture in the background trees?
Finally I like the clothing, all in all an exellent painting.
Sharon.

Hi Sharon,

I did use Salt in the trees - not the usual way i paint them.. just experimenting...
The colours i used for Gemmas hair was , Cad yellow, burnt sienna, and colbolt blue.

Wow Dazzer... wonderful portrait composition! I'll bet those two never argue and fight with one another... :D Gemma's lips look like she's wearing lipstick... can you soften that just a tad? It's not a big nit by any means because your painting is great!!!

Darren double portraits are so much harder than singles, well done on getting this to work so well!

Agree with Char that the little girls lips are a bit too strong. Also you might want to soften the lines around both chins, that area makes them look a little older I think (but I'm not expert portrait artist so I might be wrong!)

I think i will soften the Gemmas mouth a bit more.. Thing is' in real life Gemma's lips are even redder! She will won't have to wear lipstick when she's older! As for the chins they are both a bit 'chinny' (they get that from their dad)! but maybe i should understate them a tad - just to be kind! :D

Fantastic portrait! Yes, be kind and soften the chins! LOL (There speaks a woman with chins!) Truly a wonderful portrait, full of life.

Great job. I can see and feel the life in these kids. I also like the way you've done the folds on their clothes.
