Greetings!

While looking for something to paint I came across this image from the cover of a VCR tape I had, "The Perfect Storm". I really liked the huge wave and decided I could use that for a painting so I scanned it, did a serious digital edit and took out the boat and then did a mirror image of the digital edit. When the image rendered I was amazed to see the face at the top of the wave. I just wondered if anyone has noticed this before as the face appears as the captain of the fishing boat. I don't know the artist of the work or I would email and ask but I just thought maybe someone may have the inside scoop on this. Also there are many other "face" type images in this picture if you take the time to pick them out but it is really weird and I want to paint it for my own personal use. Can I get in trouble for that since the edit is so extreme?

Thanks in Advance,
Tess

P.S. If you know this artist can you please email me with any info you may have to contact them?

I still haven't' found one single link to the artist who composed this. Surely that was intentional and maybe just fell through the cracks. Pretty good gimmick if the public would have picked up on it. I only liked the original because it has a way of making the viewer feel really small in the scope of things. Know what I mean.

It reminds me of an old album cover in the 70's of a lions face that had womens faces in it and stuff. I think it was a band called Santana but don't remember. Plus I just happen to be a fan of Bev Doolittle too.

Still pretty weird.
But Cool,
Tess

I'm thinking the "face" is just a coincidence. I've found that faces are actually one of the easiest happy accidents to come across, especially with reflected images. if you think about it, it makes sense because there is really very little involved in making the shape of a face. As for getting in trouble for painting this, you can never get in trouble for painting something for your own personal use. (you are aware that as a reflection it really doesn't look much like a wave, yes? just checking http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif ) EricO

True on the not looking like a wave but I just thought it would be cool for something. Don't know what yet... but I just liked all the patterns and stuff. Maybe the beginnings of a fantasy/nightmare something???

Maybe it's my monitor, maybe it's me (more likely http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif ) but I'm having a hard time seeing a face in this... Can someone draw over where it is please? I think I can see eyes, but not a whole face?

Thats It No More Ocean Swimming For Me. Does Anyone Have A Extra Kiddy Pool.Serriosly. .What Distrubes Me Is The Fact It Has The Face Of Satin Is Right Below The Peak Of The Wave Compleate With Gotee And Horns.Below Him At The Bottom Is A Screaming Damed Soul Above Him Is Another Face That Deffantly Isnt An Angel That You Refur To As Looking Like The Captain. This Isnt Like Looking At A Cloud And Imageing An Images . Its All There In Plain Sight.Chilling And Disturbibg ! -------
