View Full Version : The Wave

For the first time I used liquid masking and it was just great, I thought. I created the effect of spray and the wave by a wet on wet effect and using a paper towel to remove wet paint. Then I stopped.
I tried again using the liquid masking and it was a flop. I guess Practice makes perfect, but I do love those first time tries that trun out the way you want them to.

Again I tired for the sixth time and am now giving up. Please see my wave on the critque forum, since I cannot get it on the watercolor forum. I mistakenly used the running girl in the aboe comments on the wave.

Girl is very well rendered and I like the composition. I would perhaps given the water more of a blue tone, as it seems to be close in colour to the child and her clothes.

It's beautiful and, lucky you, the masking certainly worked!!! I have given up using masking...

Nice one I love it...the free feeling of being young .....

I like the movements... and the kid is very well rendered.

I like them both. The girl running is great. The wave is very nice but I have a problem with the wave looking like it runs into the sky ? It shows great movement though.
I like them both, Mary Ann, and for the same reason--harmonious colors and fantastic movement :)

I love it.

BOTH of them are wonderful! As someone already said, the rendering of the child is terrifically expressive, and the blue wave just flows.....

I love them both too, but the little girl is my favourite - so alive!!
