Hi Rod,
I like the colors that you are using here.
For some reason I can't put a finger on though the face of the woman with the blue hat bothers me some. I know its hidden in the hat and the shadows of the same, but its as if her forehead has an un natural look to it.

The features of the other woman's face is exquisite.

Don't worry, its gonna be all right....

Thanks Tammy,
I agree the form was wrong,I only just finished the painting today , so paint was still out and wet , have corrected by reshaping the forehead and adding a hint of the eye,

Hey Rod,
Now I know what you lot get up to in Kaiapoi when all the others have come up here on holiday.
Love it Rod. Its different and good. A bit 1920's in figure style but who cares. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

love the figures, foibles, and hats but not the bkgnd. I think it works great as a figure study but is not as strong as a painting - severe cropping might work or doing another with this as a reference when the whole paper becomes the issue (today I'm on a campaign about the totality of paintings).

Much better now the head is fixed.
I like the background, the only thing I would do is blend in the yellow a bit more.
Well done !

Cap/ I will paint today!

One small thing, the dark shadow under the blue lady's arm 'curves the wrong way' under the arm - if you continue the line behind her arm she would have a hump to rival Quasimodo http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Perhaps it should look more like this...

Excellent work. I like Henrik's improvement. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

If the individual is ever to come under the power of the ideal to the extent of believing that his concrete longings and needs are to be found in it -- found moreover in a state of fulfillment and gratification, then the ideal must give the illusion of granting present satisfaction. It is this illusory reality that neither philosophy nor religion can attain. Only art achieves it - in the medium of beauty.... Herbert Marcuse, Negations
