Here is my latest challenge, working on this one in class on Saturdays, this is second Saturday coming up.
The purple shoud blend in when I am done I think, right now it looks too strong.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also attaching reference, this is an exercise for me, not for sale, picture came from advertisement in Horse Illustrated.

OK I didn't do it right again, you have the reference, this should be the wip

I think your horse looks lovely and I am looking forward to seeing it finished. There is only one thing that bothers me - it's the horse's left eye, or the right eye when you look at the picture. From the angle of the horse you should only see about half the eye from the side but you tried to include the whole eye.

I'm not sure if I explained it right - does it make sense?

Thanks Margaret

Yes I see that, I am going to darken that side quite a bit and will correct that then.

I appreciate your interest

Peggy this is coming along really well. Now I hope you don't mind if I pass on a few pointers for you. I've compaired both pics and spotted a few things for you to correct if you wish to.
On one side of the head you will see that the shape will need altering a little especially around the eye.
Check the angle of the eye line and also where you seem to have extented the bottom of the jaw a fraction (circled)

Hope you don't mind me doing this for you!
Here are your two images side by side for easy viewing.

Is this water color???

I think you have some great advice from too really great artisits so I won't give advice...

But I will encourage you to keep working on this!! It is really nice and with the small adjustments suggested it should be really gourgous when finished!!

Great Job!!

Thanks Guys,

Paul, good tips, I never thought to compare the two pics that way. I will correct the angle of eyes and the outline of the right side when I work on this again, tomorrow. Thanks again.

Peggy this is fantastic! You have amended the areas I pointed out and all looks great. I realise how difficult it is to blend with watercolours especially when working in detail with possibly a size 2 brush, this doesn't seem to have been a problem for you.
Very well done!

Thanks everyone

Yes, I think I got it from an old Horse Illustrated, I clip out pictures I want to do and put them away and by the time I get to them I have forgotten where they came from

So many senior moments, so little time.
