Great bottle and flowers. I have a problem with what is there. Is the black area a baseboard? What is the green area below it? I quess I m just dense today.

This is excellent!!!! I really love how you handle watercolors, and the way the paint collects at the edges of the shadows... just stunning!

JoAnn... maybe I can answer that question for you. My favorite spot for still life is my front entry hall. I opened the front door and let the sun in and put the bottle right there on the floor. So that's what you're seeing, the baseboard, and the sun coming in the door and lighting up the flowers and the hardwood floor.

I love flowers and especially multicolored shadow. I agree with JoAnn about background. It has strong values and lines, which distracts from flowers.

How on earth could I possibly critique this? Oh Pam, I wish I had the delicacy which you display in this gorgeous painting! I love the colors, the composition, the way the shadow is dappled by the light coming through the bottle.... Simply stunning!

Congratulations to Geckonia for the beautiful photo and to you Pam for a wonderful painting!!!!!
Need to pick your brain, how did you get the greens in the leaves, that's exactly the colour I have been trying for in some tulip leaves.

thanks, Patti, lyn, noreen and cath x

Aselka....going to tone down that molding strip and maybe darken the floor shadow

Ruth...oh pshaw...you avoided other things and then, when you tried them , they came out fine....c'mon :p

Uschi, all I used was varying mixes of Winsor blue and new gamboge....purple for shadows

terrific finish .....those throats of the blossoms really come forward now.

that shadow really perked up.....or is it just the photo? ? no, I think I see more green in there.

really great colour choices here Pam.......unique but they all work well together.....I like the touches of green in the bottle.

You know it is so hard to get an ACCURATE photo....at least here in this side of the light where the studio is

Maybe when you come, we can figure out a better set-up:rolleyes:

And the finished product is absolutely perfect! Love it!

Did you do your shadows wet in wet or did you glaze them?
