This painting has been plaguing my easel for three months now . It's been the wrong way around, and is now upside down. Composition issues.

I am not familiar with this kind of pallet and haven't really connected with the various grey's within the blue and green colours as much as I would have liked. The background has moved from many things from warm to cool to completely out there and I am back to white now.

C & C most welcome :)

Oil on canvas 180cm x 90cm

Cheers all

its a very interesting painting. Lots of things to look at and colors to enjoy. I do like the sparkle in the second from right fishes eye. The rest seem kinda dead.. (no Pun intended). What kind of fish are they.

I think this is interesting and creative. The colours are superb. Also curious to know what kind of fish they are.

Many thanks for you comments Laurie, Maryinasia and Chammi.

This species of fish are Southern Sea Garfish (Hyporhamphus melanochir, Hemiramphidae), they are in abundance in our local waters during the warmer months of the year.

this photographs well. Your colors are vibrant but done in a soft manner which I like a lot. Very realistic form. Good work

What movement throughout the composition! The palette is wonderful and all the details. The fish look so shimmery.

Hi thanks Leslie, Robert

Thanks Andrew, I have a brand new computer (Toshiba Satellite) with a brilliant monitor which has a brilliant graphics card (i5), my old computer had an incredibly dull monitor which may have made a difference in which photo I chose to upload? I have taken a lot of photos of this on different camera settings, it was difficult to capture the colour given the size and variation in pallet. The second photo on my monitor looks as close as I can get it to real life, how does it look on your monitor?

My Dear Husband just pointed out that from a distance my painting edges look like they've been done in photoshop IRL (I have never thought of it as a cut out). I wanted it to be about colour, composition and edges (hence the white background)... I'm getting your point now Andrew, thanks.
