Well, I think I'm about done with this one. Sorry, it's not much of a WIP... I finished it at the office - but I didn't have my digicam there so I couldn't take pics as it came along.

Thanks for looking, commenting and critiquing.

Dim: 8.25 X 10.5 inches on Daler-Rowney CP
Paints: some no-name stuff

p.s. the circular blotch in the ref. photo waterfall is a drop of my paint... at least it wasn't on the painting ;)

Hello Jti,

Your painting looks finished to me. Wonderful job too. I really like the sense of depth you've achieved. Terrific trees in the foreground.

Thank you sharon - hard to believe they're that purple but it seems so.

Painterbear - thanks for the kind comments. I cropped the painting a little (could you tell)... I liked the longer version, but I didn't like what I did with the trees branches further up, so, out with the chainsaw and bzzzzz. ;)

Thanks for the comments Starsprite - it's easy to get the composition right when the photographer knew what HE was doing. I got this one from one of my students who visited their northern counterparts.

Thanks Annetta, I thought the trees were too dark at first, but I've come to like them this way. The foreground foilage was my worry. I have a lot to learn about doing foilage well, but for now I'm happy with this effort.

Thanks, CharM

agree wholeheartedly about the rocks and foliage....that lavender in there makes me hungry:eek:

Wonder if just a tad of that light blue(in the right hand water) sparingly applied to the water would help define it

I KNOW IT doesn't show in the photo....but IMHO it would make the water more "watery"

wow jti ! This is beautiful, love your trees in the foreground especially. Kinda makes you wish you could see it in person doesn't it?

Great finish! The foliage does look great and gives depth to the painting. The rock face and mountain in the background add to the dimension. Excellent!
