Getting towards the finishing touches stage on this piece and need to make tea, so I thought I'd post here for some opinions in the meantime....Please shout if you see anything that could work better.

Photo is a tad blurry and the colour on the lightest grapes isn't showing too well but it's there!

....Anita, your colors and lights in this speak volumes!!! Awesome painting and gorgeous color combinations!! The ONLY thing (IMHO) I would do, is maybe...maybe add a few darks to the leaves. Shadows or veins? But if not, this can stand alone "as is"!! Will be interesting to see what others offer in the way of advice, if any is necessary that is :D

Anita, what a lovely painting!! The grapes are painted very, very well and you did so nice with the leaves and the white spaces. Beautiful fresh colours too http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/05-May-2003/10305-handenklappen.gifhttp://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/05-May-2003/10305-handenklappen.gifhttp://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/05-May-2003/10305-handenklappen.gif

Ooohhhhh I love grapes!!! This is really turning out nicely! I agree with Annetta, a few dark veins or something in those leaves would be nice. The lower left leaf (heh... try saying that 3 times fast!) especially seems a bit too "bright" for the rest of the painting. Is this from a ref. photo?

Wonderful colors! I like grapes, too! This is a WIP, so I assume you will add a little dark at the bottom of particular grapes, etc. One thing I notice right now--be careful not to cut your painting in half--with the really bright green leaves on one side and the really dark grapes on the other.

I can't wait to see it finished! Hurry up and have tea! LOL

Thanx for all of your comments, I have worked on the leaves a little now adding some detail but not too much as I wanted the grapes in the spotlight .

Interesting point about splitting the painting in half, I hadn't thought of that, I took another look after reading your comments Lyn and have now darkened one of the leaves at the top left...I think it helps!

I've gotten to the point that I am scared to glaze the grapes any more for fear of them blending in with the background colour too much....I want to see them.

I think I am done now but unfortunately I can't show you yet as my digi needs batteries ....I'll get some in the AM and post then......sorry! :crying:

TY Sandy, JoAnn and Artcrazy
TY Char, glad you like the dark background!

Sorry I took so long this morning......Managed to get you a final (?) pic now.....I think the darker top left leaf works well to even things out more and I'm hoping there is just enough detail on those lighter leaves?

A HA!!!! I've been waiting for this and set my alarm for extra early :cat:

Absolutely stunning Anita!!! Wonderful finish (IMHO) and needs
nothing else!! That dark background is the icing on the cake.

Good work!!!

That blue really "light" over the dark background... I feel it a little "not-real" color, but enjoy the combination...

Thans for share

This is beautiful:)
I feel the light reflecting up though an opening in the vines. That is why you can see the light through some of the leaves. Love the bold colors and white space alot

Tracie...You explained my painting perfectly, which means I must have got it right! LOL!

Wonderful! The focal point now grabs the eye, allows it to move around the painting and come back--no feeling of two paintings now!:D
