Wow 2 post in one day for me:D

I have been having major digital camera problems:rolleyes:

This is the second painting for our student art show. I have a heavy ornate gold frame. What kind of matting do you see used with this painting?

A white mat will let the painting really shine. Good luck with the show.

Thank you all so much for your wonderful comments.:D

I am very new to art and especially to the matting and framing part. My teacher loves colored matts:rolleyes:

She and 3/4 of the class picked out a green top mat and a red under mat. Looks more like the trim on a Christmas card to me.

I know that matting and framing can either add to or detract from your work.

I love the composition you have. Is the scan a little dark or should it look like that?

Your flowers are such a strong color, I think a colored mat would detract from them. I would use a double mat in a creamy white and a metal frame in brushed gold so it isn't shiny.

Very nice closeup on the flowers, very well painted.

Thank you Sylvia, Annetta and Carol for you wonderful replies.:)

Annetta- The flowers were all painted using 3 colors W&N Aurelion, Quid Red and Aliz. Crimson.

I messed up on the leaf back ground and had to paint over the leaves and fade them back alot plus some creative croping;)

Carol- the darkness you see may be from my digital camera shot. This is pretty much how the look but a little more glowing. I think I paint with alot of paint in my water:)

Thanks for checking it out and posting such nice comments...it's the only way to learn.
