I am posting this here for Wingnut to thank her for the animal anatomy books she listed in the sticky at the top of this forum. Thanks Wingnut! I hope you like hummingbirds. This is a male Allen's at my feeder today.

I love hummingbirds!! :D :D how did you know?? I even worked for Perky-Pet and made feeders for them. They are so friendly - I used to sit on a friend's back padio at dusk and they would zoom in and take a really close look at us - it was great. We don't have them here at this house :( I miss them. Wow! you even stopped the wing! I've tried and tried to photograph them, but my poor camera was just not up to it - I'll enjoy yours though :D thanks so much!

Thanks Wingnut... I'm glad you liked them! I have a bunch of Allen's and Anna's that buzz by all day long... they've stolen my heart, that's for sure! I like to wear a red hat so they'll mistake me for a flower and come really close...lol...

Thanks Heather glad you liked 'em. :D

Hi Irene... yes, I use a digital camera. The Nikon Coolpix 990 for these.

Thanks, TJ... your hummingbirds sound pretty too!

Thanks CrazeeJumper... I like to stand right next to the feeder. I set the camera to focus on a spot about a foot away and get them as they back away and hover before going back in for another sip. This guy is about 2.5 inches long.

Here's the male Anna's... the biggest and bravest of the hummingbirds that visit...

Well I never! I've alway imagined digital camera's being a bit on the blurry side but these are brilliant! I've got to get me one of those!
