View Full Version : Painting in the park today

I finally got a chance to paint outside for the first time this year. After a really awful winter, and a spring that just teased us with an occasional nice day, I got my chair and my paints and did a painting of the flowering trees in the local park. This is 9 x 12 on an Arches w/c block. I almost had that new growth look in the green trees, but I filled them in too much. Other than that I am fairly pleased with it. It took about an hour. Critiques welcome.

Oh, my! Oh, my! Plein aire just brings an immediacy to a painting. You have absolutely caught a spring moment--your colors and tree rendering is just wonderful. :D

Coming home from Ohio on Thursday, I thought everything had that new verdent green that is peculiar only to spring... You have captured that freshness here... Absolutely well done!!!
