Hi everyone,

This is a painting I just finished. I'ts a full sheet Arches 200 HP done from a photo I took last summer at Big Bay a place not to far from where I live. (hence Big Bay Rose).

I just about gave up on this a few times but I perservered. I really learned a lot from doing it, now if I can only remember for next one. All comments and critique welcome.

Thanks for looking

Your roses are really beautiful! I wish you had made them a wee bit bigger so that they filled more of the paper. Wonderful painting though.

Full Sheet? Well, this is special indeed!
You certainly can paint a leaf, and after this much practice you could do them in your sleep. I think the amount and detail of these leaves lend a decorative painting look to the work and wonder if the roses would be more pronounced if they were not. I didn't look at the reference photo, so I do not know if you were following it.
I love the violet tone in the roses and particuarly lovely in the center. Love the loose, full blown growing wild rather than florist-quality blooms.
A wonderful work.
Also b/g works great.

Your roses are beautifully painted. Like Fookie I prefer these wild roses for paintings over the tea roses florists always use.

That was quite an undertaking to make a full sheet painting and you added a lot of detail in the leaves, so I can see why this took you so long.

This is a lovely painting for sure.

Absolutely beautiful my friend, and I'm sure you will remember what to do for the next one.

As Uschi mentioned, we sure can see where Sandy got her talent from.
