Whoa. To be honest, this is ... uhm... golden. I mean, uh... yeah, probably fits to this painting, sure thing. I do not use frames myself, so perhabs I am somewhat conservative and not in position to judge about it.

fay, try bringing out the darkest part of this composition with a mahogany or dark cherry frame.

No, I think it would look better with a different frame, something softer and much less conspicuous, in a grey of about the color of the background of the painting but half a tone darker.

I agree.
This golden one is OK, but the dark cherry would be a winner.
Just my humble opinion and I got one just like a nose on my face. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif

nice painting.

i looked at this a long time and finally figured out what was bothering me. its not the color of the frame, but the pattern that is on the frame. i feel it is distracting from your work. which ISN'T good.

the eye wonders over the frame too much, the pattern is demanding its own attention, where as the color is fine, infact i like the gold. maybe a plain gold frame?

just thought i'd throw my 2 cents worth...

oh and good luck with the shop.

Agree with lori, it is the pattern that is not so good.
Played around with it a litlle (as usual http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif )
Here are some alternatives...
<IMG SRC="http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/24-May-2001/Rododenron_best_one-hl1.jpg" border=0>

<IMG SRC="http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/24-May-2001/Rododenron_best_one-hl2.jpg" border=0>

<IMG SRC="http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/24-May-2001/Rododenron_best_one-hl3.jpg" border=0>
The last one perhaps a bit too much - but I really like the darker matte as the flower pop.

I still like the frame you have on here. Dosn't bother me @ all. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif Well, I think it ties in nicely with the shapes in the painting. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif My taste is prolly weird! But I still like this frame. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

I would prefer a more simple frame with clean lines. To me, the detailing of the frame competes with the lovely painting. They both attract my eye equally, in other words.
