I really like the composition and palette you used in this lovely painting.

The dark strong shadows and silhouettes in front contrast so well with the softer shapes of the buildings and bridge off in the distance. The treatment of the water is very nice too, as is the lovely shade of blue it is painted.

Super painting. Particularly like the tree framing the composition and the colors in the river.

Mia, ditto all the above -- it's really lovely. Are they your children and family pup in the painting?

Well done flowerfields. I, too, like the tree and especially the shadows.

I like everything about this, Mia!

The background buildings are painted with just enough detail to be instantly recognisable without being too busy. Especially like the tree silhouette - beautifully done.

Hello Mia,
This is a painting that I like very much. Composition, values, use of nearby tree to create depth, color, suggestive painting..everything is very good. You wrote that you have spend the day in the park, I have the impression that this is a evening scene, round midnight...but that's no problem.
I think he is going to kiss her :D

Mia,
this is a wonderful representation of the Story Bridge and the Brissy River, you have definately captured an Aussie afternoon in the park. The tree along the river are fantatic and you have really portrayed the essence of them in this work.

Thank you everyone for having a squizz and your comments!!
Bethany...yes I did take a photo, but it wasn't these colours! :) A bit of artistic license there I confess
Darren....I WAS at the park with my kids, but only the girl in the painting is mine...the boy was a "friend" of hers, and the dog was a welcome Ring-in!
Jan.....my daughter would be MORTIFIED if I told her your comment about the kiss...BOYS and KISSES....EWWWWWW!:D Also it was a late afternoon but what the heck...I can choose the colours!!
Ruth....yes, I was happy with how the buildings turned out...one of those "happy" accidents..actually I was doing a Ron Ranson and trying to do the background with a big brush so as not to "fiddle" and it worked!
Phillip...thanks, and I like the self portrait you've added to your "head" .......looks just like the photo!
Thanks again to you all...sorry there were too many to personally answer all!
Catchyas!
