Title: Too much white????
Year Created: 2003
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!
MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Does this look like too much white in the sky?

perhaps not too much white, but maybe a little too uniform. the white is nice, but its a little flat and its working against the angular forms... flattening them out IMO.
this is good work and I am glad to see you painting more in oils. The last one you did was very nice.

ooooh! I like this Shawn!! I like the way you have painted the sky..maybe a "touch" smoother...not much though. I would hate for you to loose that spontanaety (sp?) of the clouds. Did you use a palette knife? This is very well done.

Love the texture and the forms on this.
The white is good but feels to me a bit too much like a solid wall. I wonder if a little variation in tonal value towards the horizon would help?
I'm not much good at this Photoshop stuff, but this is kinda what I mean:

I like the brushwork and the looseness but the values are not there .. seems to be very limited in distance and 3D .. if you change your values with distance you will open up the piece.

Thanks everyone! When I get back home Sunday night I will keep working on it.
Fagan, I used a brush for it all. I was thinking about using the knife down in the land area.
Thanks James. I am going to work on the horizon area like your example shows.
Wayne I will be working on the values too.

very smart work
the process is like ghandi spinning
you get tighter and you get looser
always adjusting - aware -awake.

More 'shape' to the clouds...........describing their volume, as suggested, will make this a cracking picture. Good work Shawn!

I don't think it's too much white.
I like it as is. :)
