I did this one a year or so ago. Just posted this to see if you say the same thing that I think about it. (Chuckle chuckle)

Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the comments. I thought after I had finished it that the house should have been less dominant so the flowers were the main thing that you focus on. Right now it seems that you bounce back and forth between the flowers and house.

fink, agree with you... My first reaction was "The house that the monster lilacs killed". Besides the big diference in proportions - the house and lilacs do create a ping pong effect; a third element could fix that.
Something like a fence running from foreground to background could perhaps connect the two - perhaps also adding some small distant flowers wold help the viwer get the proportions right. Here is an attempt to show the idea...

(yuck what an ugly fence I made...)

Oh yea I like the suggestion about the fence. Now I'll take it apart and get the old toothbrush after it and change change change.

Nice colors. I think the composition is evocative. Perhaps even a few lilacs in that empty corner would give the impression that you were just peaking over the tops of a big bush and catching a view of that house. Reminds me of Iowa. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

omg! I just see now that you are IN Iowa.....! lol
