William, most unusual WC. I really like it looks very authentic and I like your treatment of the swamp.

Great job!

Hi William-

I see this is your first post. Thanks for posting.

This is a very emotional style with free vertical strokes
in the sky area and whispy trees with slender weaving branches.
Also, the spiked branches sticking our of the swamp in reflection
doubles the effect.

Subdued color all around the painting and yet bright yellow
in the middle.

It all evoked emotions the minute I saw it. Very nice.

Is it watercolor on board or canvas? What paints did you use?
Windsor & Newton or Grumbacher or....?

What size is it?

Thanks again for posting and Welcome. Please post more.

I see this is your first post, William. Welcome!!

I like this very much. Very ominous and moody. Reminds me a little of Charles Burchfield's work.

Would love to see more!

Wonderful swamp, I can almost hear all the sounds of a swamp.

I love everything about this one. Please tell me, how did you do the distant foliage? It almost looks like sponging.

So now I have a wet-in-wet water buddy!

Welcome to wetcanvas, William.

Wonderful moody painting - I half expect to see an escaped convict come stumbling out of the mist :D

Hi William,

Welcome to the Watercolor forum of Wet Canvas. This is a really terrific painting, an auspicious beginning as a first post.

It really conveys the steamy atmosphere of a swamp. The contrast of the brilliant hot sun and the dark birds and skeletons of trees is very well done.

Look forward to seeing more of your paintings.

I just love this so much. The yellow is great,

Reminds me of one of the spots I go fishing. except of course its not yellow like the painting, but still a very lovely spot.

Welcom to the forum William! I really like your use of yellow... It's not necessarily a colour I would associate with "swampiness" and that's what makes this a beautiful painting!
