This is a 9" x 12" acrylic on canvas painting I did several months ago. I have not had good feedback on this painting. Please critique this as I would like to change the things that are wrong. I am too close to it to see the obvious things. Thank you!

If that is a reflecting ball, I would make it darker and add more convex reflections... Lovely painting!

*LAUGH* ok...so I could not make up my mind as to whether it was a reflecting ball or some concrete statue thing. Is this the thing that is holding the painting up?

I think I would be happier without the ball.

I remember seeing it months ago and that was one thing I thought then, but I did not want to be too picky. It seems like a concrete ball to me. It seems to compete with the roses for attention.

to me it looks like the end of a fence instead of a reflecting ball. It looks good to me

Looks lovely anyway. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif Maybe turn the ball into a feature sculpture, a bit taller though and looking into the flowers, something like a David.

Hi Bev,

I have nothing to say to the aliens. However, I would be happier seeing more light at the end of the tunnel (top left). http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thank you for your comments and critiques! I will try to darken the ball and make it into a viewing ball. If that doesnt look right I will paint the whole thing out. I appreciate your help. *SMILE*

I think you achieved depth in the background but the middle and foreground flowers all seem to be in the same plane. Can you push some of them back?

And the "thing" looks to me like a concrete post but the top seems to be off the center axis of the post. If you could expose some of the post and that flat cap on the right side (behind the rose bush), you could establish the shape and size better which would make the ball look properly centered.

Love your colors and the freshness of your brushwork. Don't woose that in the rework.

PS "woose" is 'cause my cat is helping me. I meant to say loose. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

It is beautiful as always, but the white object in the middle bothers a little bit,I do not know why.
nice work.
