I softened the edges as best I could, it's at the very shiny stage now. Can't do any more.

You certainly don't have to but if you wanted to you could simplify more...
nevermid that - it is great to see the colors echoing through the piece.
blue in sweater (great form in this) echoed in eyes, highlights of hair in cheeks ...

Soooo vibrant! Wonderful!
I am long overdo to do a self-portrait (homework assignment from 2 years ago!)... This has helped me a lot! Working from a photo seems a lot less frightening! Thank you for posting...

Hi Jeanine, yes a photo is a bit easier even though it is flat, it dosn't move LOLOL I tend to be a bit kinder to myself LOLOL
