Absolutely keep going! Just do something to make the left side of the bottle pop out a little from the background. I love the colors.

i like the angled lines
the rhythm of circular shapes
the large and small dark areas at the top,
which are balanced by the white areas near the bottom
the variation of reds running throughout is nice
it is quite abstract yet real

Come on now Simon... What's there to be frustrated with? This is coming out beautifully!!!! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Another wonderful piece. The only suggestion that I can offer is: the area at the top left of the pitcher; perhaps you could block in one color to get rid of the small shapes, that might bring more attention to the pitcher. Yax http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Quite beautiful already, Simon.
The black triangle at the top left (my left) could probably go or be made less dark. Just a suggestion.

I agree with Jerry. You are frustrated and need to regain your perspective.

Put this in your closet for awhile. Work on something else, and then come back to this. It is worthy of revisiting.

I'm not sure why you're frustrated (this looks great so far) but I can undrstand "being too close".

Take a break...

As Jerry so eloquently stated "HOLD" I think you have a keeper there.

Thanks everyone. I will go on with it. I think waiting is a good idea. fortunately i have to paint a double portrait that i have been putting off for a while. this frustration makes finishing that more welcome. funny how one thing leads to another. i was just frustrated because i thought this painting would take one day and then two and then by the fifth evening at 10:30 p.m. i could see this would take more work. sometimes the best thing to do is to step back. in fact it almost always the best thing to do.
thanks again

what do i know??? i look at this and say what a great painting. if it's not finished i don't know why it's not finished. sorry you're furstrated... i hope it's not because of the painting because the painting is very good. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Whatever can find room in the human heart, as emotion, idea, and purpose, whatever it is able to frame into a deed ... can constitute the many-colored content of painting. Hegel.

Missed this yesterday, sorry.
I almost think I would like to see a better photo of it.
Can't for the life of me see the problem, but I notice a more simple sense of color pattern.
Not as energetic as I have seen. Lots of objects and interesting environment but simpler color for you.
My guess it this is coming too easy...not easy like fast, but your hand is on auto-pilot and doing all the work and you are not used to pulling your head out of the process so much.
I think you are striving for complexity and you don't realize you have learned serenity.
That is hard sometimes too.
If you hide it in the closet I bet it will look great as is.

If you leave it for a while, you are gonna LOVE it when you come back to it! I LOVE it already... as is... lots of lost and found edges, blurs between background and middle...
