good study, nice rendering of the pears, complimentary background, nice shadows. I like their relationship, I think it's a success.

Hi Vance! Just the other day I was wondering what happened with you, as I always enjoy your posts!
Anyway, I think the pears turned out quite well, you have quite a talent!
Tell me, why do you take three classes?? Is it different style or types or what???

The use of shadow and color make this a very good piece.
There seems to be extra space to the left of the left of the pear.

Hi Lizelle! Thanks for the compliment (and thank you Unni, and Zotma, as well)

The classes i am taking are just basic drawing, a class called "drawing into painting" and a class called painting techniques. Im taking the drawing class in the hopes of improving my lamentably poor skills in that area ( I blame a lot of it on the fact that im left handed!! lol); the other two classes are, as you suggested, basically just teaching different styles of painting.

Before taking these classes, all my experience was just from copying out of books, etc. I find the classes both immensely challenging and occassionally rewarding : )

Vance

I'd say it's quite successful, with those colors.

BTW, have you taken classes at the Torpedo Factory at all? When I return to that area when I retire, I hope to get involved with the TF, and would be interested in any experience you might have had there.

Thanks to everybody for your comments

Bill, yes i am taking three classes there currently through the Art League school. There is a brochure that I am sure they would mail to you if you asked that lists all of the scheduled classes together with a brief description of each.

I find the instructors to be very good teachers and each of the three that I am learning from have very different styles and teaching methods.

Try going to www.torpedofactory.com (http://www.torpedofactory.com) to get more information about getting there class listing.

Good Luck

Vance

Maybe it's just my dirty mind, but those pears seem to be engaged in a little extracurricular activity. Nice piece.
