Thanks all of you, either a fairy tale or scary movie behind these little darlings...today I used an already fixed prepared paper (phone book pages adhered to hot press paper 15x22 Arches with 1/2 matte medium and 1/2 water then pulled off pages after 10 minutes). Then I drew the pigs again in charcoal (Coates from UK). Drawing was 15 minutes. Next step will be painting using gouache and maybe pastels or Caran D'Ache crayons

Prepared collage phone book pages on hot press watercolor paper

Charcoal sketch

More to come, please don't give up! :crossfingers:

Step 3, about 20 minutes laying in gouache on dry paper last night. Today I finished it as in the final view below, adding oil pastel accents and dollar store gift wrap collage featuring roses, pearls, and lace  Background is Derwent Matisse tinted gesso. Another hour here  yay...done

Pearls and swine; reminds me of the Audioslave song, I am the Highway! I like that song and I like this, too. Very much!

I love the end result!!! WOW...lots of interest created and caused by all the mediums used!!
Why did you choose hotpress paper for this? I covet mine and would have used cold press as it's alot cheaper (I buy cp by the roll and hp by the sheet)...was there a reason or it was just there?

I'm feeling much interest about your way of doing. It's so cool!

Thanks everybody!
Hot press is preferred as it is easier to adhere the phone book pages (use large yellow pages, BTW), easier to wipe off gouache, a slicker surface than cold press paper, easier to apply collage with no tooth paper as it lays flatter.

Great combo, Kay. Pigs amongst the roses and the expressions on those faces says they definitely have mischief in mind.
