16"x 20" oil on canvas pannel.

This is a study in progress. I am working on sketching right to the canvas with oil paint.

Oh, sketching straight in....that's a leap. I've been doing that with 'life painting' and it's not easy (for me anyway). Interesting study with the skull (and cool with the horns). Did you work the composition before hand or is this just how it worked out. I'm thinking it's a bit bottom heavy or do you have something planned for the top?

I do agree with you on the weight of this, like me a little bottom heavy. I am planning on adding a nail and twisted sinew or a twisted reddish rope to the top to anchor the skull to the plaster wall. At this time that is my plan, but things have a way of changing as they progress. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hi Sandra, this is coming along nicely... you definitely are echoing the "V" throughout... I think that the more you render this realistically, the more powerful it will be http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

rosanna, Thank you I am glad you like it. I just hope to keep doing justice to this work as I progress. I have a collection of different types of skulls, some I have found and some given to me by friends. I have always thought the skeleton was magnificent, with or with out flesh.

alva, I hope I can do the vision in my head justice. I feel at times getting it out is like pulling teeth http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif "V", yes it is a dramatic and more interesting when you get the diagonal line and the horns on the subject got me thinking of possible compositions that would have visual impact. It is a brave move for me to take the paint right to the canvas. However it does feel somewhat relaxing to do so. Go figure! Will post progress.
