WOW! This is wonderful. I love those eyes, they really tell the emotion.

The nose looks a little small but other than that I like the colors! ~Ju

Hi dg,

This is a very beautiful portrayal of Christ. His eyes look blue, very different if they are blue in the painting, (or just scan???) I agree about the nose, maybe widen it a little to fit the broad planes of the face.

great composition and painting skill. i have to agree about the nose: after all we're talking middle eastern features! this is more like a far eastern nose. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

I hope you do a series on this view on this scene.
I really felt up close and inspired by it, and I'm supposed to be jewish!
very effective (not sure what is wrong with the nose but it can be distored at this proximity too.)

Excellent job!

Just curious, did you use the Robert Powell depiction of Christ as your model?

Keep splashing paint!

Cheers,

Nick

Wow!

I like this. Is it finished? Will you be adding tears? or light effects and stuff?
I like the big eyes too. As for the features I personally wouldn't think of "our" conventional ideas of what Christ might look like but go for something more dramatic. I mean.. he did stand out in a crowd right? Maybe he had features that weren't the "norm". So to avoid a religious issue here, I would suggest you just paint him the way you want. The overall representation is there and I get the message. The crown of thorns is awesome. Again, I like it.
