Oh Zotma, I love the close up angle you took for this. A very intimate and personal look at a special moment. I've been playing with the idea of taking that perspective on with the human body myself.....I likes to zoom in, you know. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I love the curvy lines fitting together and the colors. The only problem I have is the child's red underarm. Seems almost too red, but then, I really don't know what I would do to change that and not let it get to dark. Will look at my son's underarm tonight if you want! LOL
Beautiful painting, beautiful moment. Looks like you had a Happy Momma's Day! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

I like this, it's very meaty looking and the colours are wild. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/evilgrin.gif

Merely a student of life!:)

'The artist is no more than a receptacle for sensations, a brain, a recording apparatus. But if it interferes, if it dares, feeble apparatus that it is, to deliberately intervene in what it should be translating, its own pettiness gets into the picture. The work becomes inferior.... thanks David, TeAnne, Sue Ellen for having a look. Aurora, did you check your son's under arm? Perhaps we're a bit sunburned out here in Tucson! In keeping with the color choice of the piece, the shadow there turned out that red and I agree it's harsh, red is a warm color for a shade (I'm weird). The purple is really hard to see here, what's black looking is really deep purple. Going out to my own edge and trying some new stuff. Thanks for the comments.

Very sensual piece in terms of color & form. I didn't realize what it was ie mother & child, ntil I read it! Really interesting perspective!

i like the perspective (or view)
very abstract, yet expesses the whole story
much good rhythm in shapes of black, red and white
a slice of life
