This is what I did for about 25 years . just pen and inks. After I did this one I wanted to paint.

Nice! P&I can be very time-consuming! I can totally relate to moving to painting :-) I still use pen and ink for on-location sketching but I no longer have the patience to use it for anything large...

Dave, you can certainly see that the talent was there in your drawing. By the way, love those background trees in your turkey painting. I use line (waterproof pen) and wash (watercolours) in my sketch-book. Love the pen as it stops me from fiddling and rubbing out as I would do with graphite. Gives the sketches more life somehow.

Both of those are really lovely, Dave! I'm especially fond of the elk--all that foliage and detail is beautiful. (And I just have a soft spot for elk in general. ;))

Thank you , I did go straight into FW colored inks from the black but made the transition over to brushes. I still have not picked up the quill for any of the painting yet. For some reason I feel I lose a bit of looseness when I work with the quill.

I used to do lots of pen and ink but it stuffed my eyes up. Now I do scratchboard because I'm a masochist
