Visited the isle of wright last summer, this is one of those paintings that get started - then are discarded - then months later brought back out and then finished 16"x 12"

It was definitly worth pulling out and finishing. It's wonderful. Did you tone the paper blue first? It's a very nice sitting and color choices.

Really amazing work. My husband just looked at this and his comment was "this man has a real gift". As I have only just started to paint this is what I would aspire to. Great work!

The identical view to one that I posted some time ago, Dazzer.
I painted mine in the morning with the sun coming from the right though. I'll try to dig the url out.
You really do paint foliage texture well, perhaps the colours could have been brighter - but that's your style.
Here it is: http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86177
I added darker shadows later.

DaZZer...you should add the letter "L" to your name.
Your paintings dazzle me.

Thank you for your replies. Doug I checked out your painting - yours is more cheerful than mine - i do mix rather somber colours! It is a chocolate box type scene - one that's asking to be painted or photographed - and probably has thousands of times
Sylvielu, i didn't tone the paper first.. I do use french altramarine a lot in my mixes though.
