I had a huge amound of fun with this, even though I dropped my whole box of pastels and have shards now (boohoo) it is on 9x12 black suede mat
1 1/2 hrs
"the lion sleeps at night"
then 2 hrs in my venezia sketchbook, ink and inktense
I loved the crop of the couple waiting on shore
finally tried to get some WC down to capture the shadows, but the paper was quite lite and it kept drying up, I ended up cropping out all the worst stuff and this is what is left after two hrs.
I have another drawing on the go, so will likely put in a seperate post
thanks Jean for the great images

Busy Bonnie!!! Those lions are purrrrrr-fect! And you are the only one that included the 2 together. The colors are yummy. And those rocks/cave bg are super duper too. ((sorry about dropping your pastels, that really sucks!!))
The crop of the couple is so sweet and romantic. Really like how you did arch way and sailboat!! NICE....
Too bad you had to chop some of it off the 3rd painting. I do like how the shadows lay across the table. Again, wonderful work!!

Lions look great. Nice crop on the second one and nice job with those great shadows. "The Lion Sleeps at Night" - that was #1 on the charts when I was in high school (showing my age now!)

Lovely! The lions are my favourite:)

The bane of watercolor is inadequate paper, but we do it all the time (at least I do). Who wants to waste a sketch on Arches, but then if it comes out especially well, the paper defeats the work. Save what you can of your shards of pastels - make lovely grays together and sometimes the little bits of color not smashed is all you need for a highlight. Like all your paintings, which appear to be the same palette. Nice shadows, lovely lions of many colors, and our favorite crop of the coast and couple.

Great hairstyle on the lion in the back. Love the sunny sketching window scene :)

I dropped my pastels the first time I used them.:( On the bright side the shards come in handy sometimes. Great job on all three. Really like your line work on the stones and ivy (I think) on the wall.

Well done Bonnie, great to use different mediums for these. I've thought about doing the same pic twice with different mediums - maybe one day.
