View Full Version : Moon Rise

This is my second post to the group. I finished it late this afternoon. I am concerned about the tree. Any comments on improving it would be very welcome. Had I approached painting the tree as I do pruning them in real life, there would have been much less skeletal remains! I must give credit to my wife for technical directing on the color since I am color blind. Thanks so much for your help.

Welcome to WetCanvas! I like this effort and I think all the twigs and snags really lend to the composition, so I'm glad you didn't 'prune' too much!

Thank you all so much for your kind comments. I had my wife view your replies as well and she adds her thanks. She wanted me to explain how we work the technical directing on color. I start the painting by choosing a color I think is close to the actual color, if I'm off, she'll tell me to add whatever color to correct the variation. In this painting, I incorporated green at the bottom (I forgot to attach the reference photo in the initial post). As you can see, there is no green at the bottom. Thanks again for the encouragement!

What a striking image - lovely tree silhouette.

Your wife has a good colour sense :D

You are very brave painting when colour blind - I imagine it would be easy to make colour mistakes?
