I MET THIS FARMER WHILE TRAVELING IN THE PROVINCE OF HOLGUIN,CUBA NEAR THE VILLAGE OF GUADALAVACA

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
THIS IS ONLY MY FOURTH OIL PAINTING EVER. I STARTED PAINTING AT 52 YEARS YOUNG. I,M JUST LOOKING FOR ANY FEEDBACK AT ALL

only fourth? well then, you're already on your way...

first thing that strikes me is your shapes, and how finely simplified they are. the man on the horse reads very well.

nice palette, harmony too.. i always dig the muted, earthy quality.

compositionally -- did you want the horses head touching the bottom of the canvas?

I started late too but you may be better at it, later and faster than me at learning.
I love the lean of the rider into the house area (great tension)
the spiral of horse's neck down to the bottom edge of canvas.
connections with edge are great.
the color and sensuality of the horse's butt area are key to the work.
